European TRI-style emissions register likely in 1996
Article Abstract:
Observers believe that Europe may soon have a new emissions registry similar to the US Toxics Release Inventory. EC officials have long been advocating the establishment of a mandatory polluting emissions register but their efforts have remained unsuccessful largely because of chemical industry opposition. However, the chemical sector has dropped its opposition and a register of selected industries, processes and highly-toxic materials may soon be established.
