Speakers at the 1997 AIDS conference tempered optimism over the advances in AIDS drug therapies of the previous year. New protease inhibitors, combined with older drugs, can lower the HIV viral load below measurable quantities, but the real test will come in the reduction of AIDS-related diseases.

Army clears Redfield - but fails to resolve controversy
Article Abstract:
The Army's investigation of Redfield for misrepresenting data on an AIDS vaccine showed no evidence of misconduct. Some collaborators of Redfield were not satisfied with the report, claiming that the Army should not conduct the probe of its own researchers.
