Bacteria often practice autoinduction, in which a molecule released and reabsorbed by the same cell adjusts genetic expression according to local density of signalling cells. Autoinducers, first noticed in luminescent bacteria, were identified in Agrobacterium tumefaciens by Margaret More.

Proteins in Motion
Article Abstract:
The motions of proteins in bacteria are analyzed in several pieces of research. The research focuses on soluble proteins and membrane proteins. It is reasoned that the sliding transmembrane helices in the aspartate receptor may represent a large number of motions in one cell.
