An experimental study on the effect of prior plastic straining on creep behavior of 304 stainless steel
Article Abstract:
The effect of prior plastic strain and strain-rate on the creep response of 304 stainless steel is studied. Rough-machined cylindrical steel specimens are subjected to high-temperature heat treatments and subsequently cooled to normal room temperature. All specimens are then tested in a modified MTS servo-controlled system. Results reveal that plastic prestrain influences the initial and the stable creep strain-rate while the effect of the plastic strain-rate is observed only during the primary stage of creep.

An investigation of transient creep by means of endochronic viscoplasticity and experiment
Article Abstract:
A study of the metal creeping performed on 304 stainless-steel specimens by a viscoplastic endochronic theory reveals the greater creep strain for a test with a fixed stress-rate preloading than that for a constant strain-rate preloading for identical hold stress. The plasticity-creep interaction is responsible for this observation. The preloading strain rate is followed by the creep strain rate.

Fracture toughness of highly ordered carbon nanotube/alumina nanocomposites
Article Abstract:
The fracture strength of highly ordered carbon-nanotube-reinforced alumina composites is computed using experimental data on nanoindentation cracking. The results indicate that the residual pressure and nanotube connection play crucial roles in the nanocomposite fracture.
