Article Abstract:
The decimation of the honeybee population due to mite infestation may have serious economic repercussions for the US fruit industry. Research into the control of mite infestation includes breeding 'mite-free' bees. Also, the search for honeybee alternates is being considered to minimize the effect of decreasing honeybee population.

Controversy reigned at a meeting of the International Shrimp Tribune at the United Nations. A representative from the World Wildlife Fund and another from the Mangrove Action Project listed a variety of environmental concerns related to shrimp fishing and shrimp farms.

The long-accepted dynamo theory of celestial bodies' magnetic fields is losing support among astrophysicists. The results of research on the magnetic fields of the Milky Way and of the sun has cast doubt on the dynamo theory.
