Behavior of pile-supported dolphins in marine clay under lateral loading
Article Abstract:
A study was conducted to analyze the behavior of single piles and pile groups in marine clay under lateral loads. Among the factors considered in the analysis were lateral load-deflection relationship of single piles and pile groups, spacing of piles as well as the configuration of piles in a pile group. Inconsistencies in efficiency factors corresponding to ultimate capacity were observed in the findings, and it seems unclear how the researchers arrived at the group efficiency factors.

Nonlinear lateral pile deflection prediction in sands
Article Abstract:
A study of nonlinear deflection of laterally loaded piles in sands presented a computer code based on a pile finite-element discretization. However, the proposed method cannot evaluate bending moment distribution because it does not include lateral deflection along the length of the pile. Elastic analysis and the p-y method should, instead, be used to evaluate bending moment distribution.
