Uncertainties of monod kinetic parameters nonlinearly estimated from batch experiments

Article Abstract:

Monod kinetic parameter variation is reduced by manipulating experimental conditions. This technique is illustrated through the microbial reduction of iron (III) as an electron acceptor. Accompanying charts and graphs provide statistical data.

Kinetic analysis of the bacterial reduction of goethite

Article Abstract:

The bioreduction of goethite by Shewanella putrefaciens, strain CN32 in pH 7 bicarbonate butter is measured for lactate and goethite concentrations. Rates of sorption are shown to slow and eventually halt as the density of goethite is increased, according to Monod kinetics.

Biotransformation of Ni-substituted hydrous ferric oxide by an Fe(III)-reducing bacterium

Article Abstract:

Researchers at Pacific Northwest National laboratory investigated the reductive biotransformation of a Ni(super2)(super+)-substituted (5 mol \%) hydrous ferric oxide (NiHFO) by Shewanella putrefacients, strain CN32,m under anoxic conditions at circumneutral pH. They found that coprecipitated/sorbed Ni(super2)(super +) inhibits bacterial Fe-(III) reduction, but AQDS counteracts this inhibition may help with the immobilization of Ni within the crystal structure of biogenic magnetite.
