Bison study marks radical shift for research council
Article Abstract:
The National Research Council is departing from its normal practices in plans for a study of whether Yellowstone National Park bison with brucellosis threaten Montana cattle. The council is using paid researchers in a move to prevent legal problems.

Center seeks synthesis to make ecology more useful
Article Abstract:
The National Science Foundation has established the National Center for Ecological Analysis and Synthesis at the University of California, Santa Barbara. The center will work on projects that synthesize existing ecological data.
