Kinetics of Cr(VI) reduction by carbonate green rust
Article Abstract:
Green rust compounds are used to reduce Cr(VI) and Cr(III) at different concentrations and pH levels. The disappearance of Cr(VI) and Cr(III) with carbonate green rust is graphed over time and with different pH levels.

Historical trends of mercury deposition in Adirondack lakes
Article Abstract:
Researchers examined Adirondack lakes for historic patterns of mercury contamination. Mercury contamination of remote lakes is a concern, partly as fish tissue concentrate mercury. Industrial use of mercury has decined. However, mercury levels continue to rise in North America at approximately 1.5 percent each year. The authors state that burning coal and waste incinerators are responsible for the contamination. The researchers examined the sediment of 8 lakes in upper New York State, and surrounding watersheds for mercury concentrations. Soil samples from the lakes supported the hypothesis that since 1850 lakes have been contaminated by mercury.
