Chasing the ghost bat
Article Abstract:
Zoologists Bruce W. Miller and Michael J. O'Farrell embarked on an expedition to Belize to record the ultrasonic cries of bats. The two use an Anabat detector, an electronic device that translates the strongest harmonic of the ultrasonic signal emitted by a bat into an audible sound.

A magazine reporter undergoes a skin biopsy in which a piece of muscle was extracted from his right thigh at the Copenhagen Muscle Research Center. The reporter was part of a control group for a series of experiments on how the human body responds to reduced oxygen during exercise.
