Cloriated ethene half-velocity coeffecients (Ks) for reductive dehalogenation
Article Abstract:
Reduction of groundwater contaminants, chlorinated solvents, trichloroethene (TCE) and tetrachloroethene (PCE) to ethene utilizing biological reduction is of environmental interest. If transformation to ethene is incomplete, as it often is the resulting vinyl chloride is actually more dangerous than the other two solvents. An enrichment culture grown on benzoate, hydrogen and PCE was examined to determine the maximum degradation rates of the destruction of the solvents and their intermediate products.

Counter-diffusion of isotopically labeled trichloroethylene in silica gel and geoxorbent micropores: model development
Article Abstract:
To determine if reduced uptake rates ovserved during isotope exchange experiments could plausibly be attributed to sterically hindered counterdiffusion in one-dimensional micropores a new model was developed. Hydrogenated trichloroethylene was displaced with deuterated trichloroethylene (TCE) (DTCE) in slowdesorbing sites of a ground water sediment, silica gel, and a clay and silt fraction during exchange experiments.
