Complexation of Co(II) by leonardite humic acid as a function of pH and NaClO4 concentration
Article Abstract:
The interactions of Co(II) with heterogeneous leonardite humic acid (LHA) were studied as a function of pH using a discrete log K spectrum model. The humic acid was represented as an assembly of monoprotic acids with assumed pKa values. Titrations were carried out using a Mettler DL-40 programmable titrator. Experiments were also performed to determine the effect of DOC concentration and hysteresis in the titration cycles. Results indicate that salt concentration has a strong effect on metal binding but has a weak effect on proton binding.

Cyclic voltammetry of aquocobalamin on clay-modified electrodes
Article Abstract:
Aquocobalamin demonstrated the same cathodic and anodic peak potentials as unmodified electrodes immersed in aquocobalamin solutions. The largest shift in formal redox potential as compared to aquocobalamin in solution was found to be caused by hectorite. Results reveal that clays lowering the formal redox potential of the tetrapyrrole allow a more efficient catalyst for pollutant degeneration.
