The demand for physicists and astronomers has created a bidding frenzy at as well-known institutions lure them from colleges and universities, offering excellent benefitsand salaries. The effect this has on smaller institutions are noted through the the department chair of The University of Pennsylvania.

New Clues to the Habits of Heavyweights
Article Abstract:
New information about neutron stars and black holes was reported at the American Astronomical Society meeting. Observations of black holes indicate they may be fed by Seyfert galaxies and other active galaxies. Astronomers theorize that 10% of all young neutron stars may be magnetars.
