EPA sees strong demand for remediation, but court decision clouds voluntary cleanups
Article Abstract:
The Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA) report entitled ' Cleaning Up the Nation's Waste Sites: Markets and Technology Trends, provides an overview of the national cleanup market, estimating the number of sites that will require 'characterization' which is an assessment of the nature and extent of contamination and remediation over the next 30 years. The US Supreme Court's ruling may add an element of confusion that could slow or even halt the voluntary cleanups.

Waste water: greater demand for reuse underlies trend toward satellite treatment
Article Abstract:
A satellite or point-of-sale systems collects wastewater from the interceptor or trunk line, treats it so that it meets appropriate reuse standards, and then releases it to the nearby customers. Even if there is a malfunction in satellite system, no environment harm will result because the untreated wastewater can simply be left in the collection system to continue its journey to the main treatment plant downstream.
