Early hominid fossils from Africa
Article Abstract:
The fossil armbone recovered from the Kanapoi site in Kenya in 1965 and bones recovered from the same site in 1995, that includes lower jaws, an upper jaw, parts of the tibia and sets of isolated teeth, led to the discovery of a new Australopithecus species, the A. anamensis.

Once we were not alone; today we take for granted that Homo sapiens is the only hominid on earth. Yet for at least four million years many hominid species shared the planet. What makes us different?
Article Abstract:
No one is sure why Homo sapiens became the one surviving hominid species on earth, but some suspect that it was the development of language. Language could have brought with it symbolic skills that gave Homo sapiens a great advantage over the other species.
