Management challenges facing U.S. fisheries
Article Abstract:
The degradation of marine habitats necessitates a multifaceted approach with an equal focus on conservation and mutual cooperation in the fishing industry. Regional councils for fisheries management are facing challenges in dealing with the crisis. Scientific uncertainties over sustainable harvest limits pose difficulty in setting harvest limits for fishers. A workable stability between the commercial and conservational aspects of marine resources is needed for the effective management of fisheries.
