Aromatic hydrocarbon "humps" in the marine environment: unrecognized toxins?
Article Abstract:
Unresolved complex mixtures (UCMs) resulting from the weathering of petroleum is studied as a toxin in mussels. Gas chromatography-mass spectrometry results are graphed to show the concentration of UCMs in mussels treated with weathered crude oil.

Effect of dissolved organic matter on the uptake of trace metals by American oysters
Article Abstract:
Researchers examined American Oysters from Galveston Bay, Texas to determine effects of dissolved organic matter on the bioavailability of metal. Among other specific findings, the study concluded that low dissolved organic carbon levels correspond to low bioavailability, and that high DOC corresponds to enhanced bioavailability. Findings are further illustrated by tables and figures.
