Electrical glitch makes satellite blow its cover

NASA's Wide Field Infrared Explorer (WIRE) satellite ran into problems in 3/99, and its scientific mission was declared lost on 3/8/99. However, University of California (Berkeley) astronomer Derek Buzasi determines that the 2.5-inch lens on the satellite can be used to monitor stars.
