Environmental implications of electric cars
Article Abstract:
A shift to electric cars, as mandated in some states, is shown to be no more environmental beneficial than cars powered by low-emission gasoline. Plants making lead-acid batteries would emit unacceptable amounts of toxic lead. Low-toxicity batteries are far from being commercially viable.

Environmental estrogens: can two "alrights" make a wrong?
Article Abstract:
Research indicates that dieldrin and endososulfan, which are innocuous by themselves, have effects like those of estrogen when they are combined. When mixed, the compounds induced high levels of Beta-galactosidase with a potency exceeding 100 times that of either compound used alone.

An environmental rationale for retention of endangered chemicals
Article Abstract:
Both the protection of the stratospheric ozone layer and the reduction of global warming need consideration in regulating chemicals. Hydrochlorofluorcarbons and other chlorofluorocarbon replacements have minimal impact on ozone and have the potential to reduce global warming.
