Evaluating competitive sorption mechanisms of volatile organic compounds in soils and sediments using polymers and zeolites
Article Abstract:
This study investigated the competitive sorption of tetrachloroethene and trichloroethene in two polymers, three natural solids, and four zeolites, with the resulting suggestion that competition for hydrophobic micropores controls the competition between volatile organic contaminants in the subsurface. The Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign conducted the study.
