Evolution: a lizard's tale
Article Abstract:
The anole lizards of the Caribbean islands can be found anywhere, in any form. The kinds that appear together differ in the habitat they occupy, with one found only in grass or another only in trees. What is unusual is that the same types of habitat specialists occur on different islands.

The big bang of animal evolution

Evolutionary biologists wonder why all animal structures are based on those that evolved during the Cambrian period. All known animal phyla appeared suddenly sometime within the 60-million-year Cambrian period, and no fundamentally different body structures have appeared since.
