Article Abstract:
Fruits and seeds will supplement birds' diet in autumn, as invertebrate populations diminish. The fruit and seeds of plants, however, are different from their usual diet, as fruits contain more carbohydrates, while seeds of plants have more protein and fat. This diet also exposes them to predators.

Woodpeckers are one of the most interesting species to track during the Christmas season's bird counting festival. Woodpeckers use their long and sharp-pointed beaks to dig the bark of trees and extrude beetles and other insects from them.

An owl's large eyes enable its binocular vision which greatly facilitates hunting. They are also endowed with sensitive hearing and large, rounded feathers that are designed to be noiseless as they swoop onto their prey.
