Field and stream: a new way to identify the inhabitants of an ecosystem

University of Minnesota researchers have used the results of their research on tundra ecology to develop a new ecosystems approach, the geomorphic-trophic hypothesis, which unites an area's food chain with the area's unique geologic features to come up with an ecological characterization of the area.
