Sun-spots defied explanation by early astronomers until they were debunked as planetary transits by Kepler in 1631. They are real storms on the sun's surface, and they will trigger visible northern lights down to the southern US in 2000.

A couple describes their experiences trying to grow wheat on a small plot of land in highly urbanized Cambridge, MA. They thought they had failed when it appeared their crop did not last the winter, but they realized they planted winter wheat which they harvested the following summer.
