First- and second-order sensitivity analysis of a photochemically reactive system (a Green's function approach)
Article Abstract:
The Green's function method used to compute the sensitivities of a photochemically reactive system can also be used to improve sensitivity analysis of air quality models by estimating the effects of parameter variations. Applying the sensitivity analysis on the air quality model that simulates a well-mixed reactor system, an evaluation was made on the temporal dependence of ozone concentrations on the NOx concentrations. A second-order sensitivity analysis revealed the dependence of ozone concentrations on NOx emissions.

On-road emissions of particulate polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons and black carbon from gasoline and diesel vehicles
Article Abstract:
Evaluation of Polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon (PAH) and black carbon emissions from diesel and gasoline engines reveals that gasoline engine emissions consisted almost entirely of ultrafine (less than 0.12 micrometers) particulate PAH while diesel engine emissions consisted of both ultrafine and accumulation (0.12 to 2 micrometers) sizes. The data was gathered from vehicles travelling the Caldecott Tunnel in the summer of 1996.

A carbon arc process for treatment of CF4 emissions
Article Abstract:
Carbon arc plasma has been found to be an effective means of controlling point source perfluorocarbon emissions. The process has been found to offer a wide flexibility range in converting fluorochemicals into different products with the resulting products dependent on the co-reactants fed into the system. Experiments show the potential conversion of CF4 and higher fluorinated species into different products.
