Research on the role of connexin43 in abnormal heart development was one important presentation at the 1996 meeting of the American Society for Cell Biology. Another was the discovery of a gene that contributes to the brain defects of Down Syndrome.

Zoologists flock to U.S. capital for annual assembly
Article Abstract:
One report at the American Society of Zoologists meeting presented evidence that beetles have specialized ears that help them to evade bats. Other papers discussed frogs which develop directly from larva to adults and the anatomy of the hero shrew.
