Article Abstract:
Researchers in evolutionary developmental biology find that perseverance is needed in a new field that has little institutional infrastructure. They also contend with the different cultures of evolutionary and developmental biology. Job growth is increasing, but finding an interdisciplinary position is difficult.

Newfound gene holds key to cell's cholesterol traffic

Researchers have identified the gene that causes an obscure inherited disorder called Niemann-Pick type C disease. The discovery could lead to a cure for the disease, which is characterized by an inability to process cholesterol.
