Here come the suns: stars with planets seem to harbor "heavy" elements
Article Abstract:
Astronomers speculate that stars with planets appear to have a considerably high concentration of heavy elements, a possible explanation for the puzzling patterns in the composition of parent stars. Others, however, doubt this theory, arguing that the above-average metal content of planet-bearing stars is an effect rather than a cause of planet formation.
