How do cells know that they want to be when they grow up? Lessons from epidermal patterning in Arabidopsis
Article Abstract:
The mechanisms involved in the patterning system of three epidermal cell types in Arabidopsis thaliana namely, trichomes, root hairs, and stomatal guard cells are reviewed. A comparison and contrast of the patterning pathways is given to identify and illustrate general themes that may be broadly applicable to other systems.

Plant-specific calmodulin-binding proteins
Article Abstract:
Progress in identifying plant-specific calmodulin (CaM)-binding proteins and their roles in response to biotic and abiotic stresses and development is discussed. The aspects emerging from structural studies of CaM interactions with target proteins relevant to plants are addressed.

The plant cell cycle
Article Abstract:
The activity of cyclin-dependent kinase (CDK) complexes controls cell division in plants. A review of the recent considerable progress in understanding how core cell-cycle regulators are involved in integrating and coordinating cell division at the molecular level is given.
