Iron-catalyzed cocurrent flow destruction and dechlorination of chlorobenzene during gasification
Article Abstract:
Iron-treated char aids in the catalysis of chlorobenzene destruction in the ChemChar thermal waste gasification process. It is believed that the utilization of iron-treated char brought the increase of destruction removal efficiency (DRE) of chlorobenzene from gasification to about 99.75%. The rating sufficiently satisfies the Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA) requirement of 99.99% (4-inches) destruction. Chlorobenzene dechlorination depends on the reduction of chlorobenzene by reaction with nascent hydrogen.

Reverse-burn gasification for treatment of hazardous wastes: contaminated soil, mixed wastes, and spent activated carbon regeneration
Article Abstract:
The utilization of reverse-burn gasification as a technique for treating organic wastes containing radioactive metals is discussed. A gasification reactor was applied to treat polychlorinated biphenyl-contaminated soils, destroy mixed wastes and regenerate activated carbon. The distinct advantages of gasification over incineration were demonstrated as its utility for waste treatment applications was established.
