Making waves
Article Abstract:
Harvard University geophysicist Richard O'Connell's theory that buoyant masses of radioactive rocks in the lower mantle of the earth may explain why seismic patterns break up below 1,700 kms. Seismologist Rob D. van der Hilst believes that the rocks eventually disappear into the surrounding rock when heated up.
