Article Abstract:
Experiments on the melting temperatures of minerals at high pressure yield information about the rheological dynamics of the earth's mantle. However, widely varying results have been reported on high-pressure melting temperatures.

Determining the origin of ultrahigh-pressure lherzolites
Article Abstract:
Geological research that indicated that the Alpe Arami massif originated in the mantle transition zone is refuted by other study results on the composition of Alpe Arami olivines. Both sides of the argument are presented.

Recycling osmium
Article Abstract:
Measurements of rhenium-osmium isotope ratios in the mantle indicate that osmium is recycled out of subducted oceanic crust into the island arc mantle wedge above. The discovery was made using the Re-Os isotopic system.
