Microbial reduction of Cr(VI) during anaerobic degradation of benzoate
Article Abstract:
Benzoate degradation occurred simultaneously with the reduction of Cr(VI) and was heavily dependent on the presence of Cr(VI). This was gleaned from the results of experiments conducted to assess the potential for microbial reduction of Cr(VI) linked to benzoate catabolism. Benzoate removal and the stoichiometric ratio were also consistent with the theoretical ratio for the complete oxidation of benzoate to carbon dioxide coupled to the reduction of Cr(VI) to Cr(III).

Enantiomeric selectivity in the environmental degradation of dichlorprop as determined by high-performance capillary electrophoresis
Article Abstract:
The herbicide 2,4-dichlorophenoxy-2-propionic acid, also called dichlorprop, is a chiral compound that has enantiomeric selectivity in reactions with biological systems. An analysis of dichlorprop which has degraded completely in soil using capillary zone electrophoresis revealed the enantiomers of dichlorprop, suggesting that enantiomeric selectivity is involved in the degradation of herbicides.
