Models for inelastic deformation of particles associated with hot pressing of metal matrix composites
Article Abstract:
The inelastic deformation phenomena that occurs to the particles of metal-matrix composites (MMC) during the hot pressing fabrication process is studied by means of deformation models. Two types of contact force involved in the high-pressure interaction between a rigid sphere and a deformable spherical particle are examined through an experimental setup. Results indicate that the deformation models are highly capable of predicting the factors that contribute to fiber breakage in MMCs.

On void growth in elastic-nonlinear viscous solids under creep and cyclic creep conditions
Article Abstract:
Results demonstrate rapid void growth rates in elastic-nonlinear viscous materials as opposed to purely nonlinear viscous materials. Data also point out that material elasticity has no influence on void growth or shrinkage under balanced creep conditions.
