An evaluation is presented of four innovative automobiles designed for city driving unveiled at the Frankfurt International Auto Show in September 2000. They include the Toyota Will Vi, Volkswagen Concept D, DaimlerChrysler Java and Pininfarina Metrocubo.

The luxury Saab

The new Saab 9-5 is available in a 2.3-liter 170-hp four cylinder model and a 3.0-liter 200-hp V6 model. Both models are turbocharged and has electronic engine controls. The Saab 9-5 has an innovative triple path load/crush structure and active head restraints.
