Muscle, genes and athletic performance: the cellular biology of muscle helps to explain why a particular athlete wins and suggests what future athletes might do to better their odds
Article Abstract:
The physiology of muscle tissue is examined to determine why some people are better athletes than other people. Research shows that sprinters have more fast muscle fibers than other runners, while long-distance runners have more slow muscle fibers. The effects of exercise and non-use are also examined.

The Oort Cloud: on the outskirts of the solar system swarms a vast cloud of comets, influenced almost as much by other stars as by our sun. The dynamics of this cloud may help explain such matters as mass extinction on Earth
Article Abstract:
The concept of the Oort Cloud as the source of comets owes its existence to Dutch astronomer Jan H. Oort, who correctly calculated the orbital distribution of long-period comets.
