Nucleophilic carbenes in asymmetric organocatalysis
Article Abstract:
Many chemists have tried to perform enzyme mimetic asymmetric carbene catalysis using the coenzyme thiamine. These experiments have resulted in successful enantioselective benzoin condensations and enantioselective intramolecular Stetter reactions.

Enamine-based organocatalysis with proline and diamines: the development of direct catalytic asymmetric aldol, Mannich, Michael, and Diels-Alder reactions
Article Abstract:
Enamines and imines are very important in enzyme catalysis, particularly with aldolases. The conversion of enzymatic enamines and imines into a versatile catalytic asymmteric strategy powered by small organic molecules is explained.

Design of acid-base catalysis for the asymmetric direct aldol reaction
Article Abstract:
Two principal approaches to create a new type of catalysis and high catalytic efficiency are explained. The importance of the molecular design of acid-base catalysts for the asymmetric direct aldol reaction s illustrated.
