Optimisation: FEA gets Lola rolling
Article Abstract:
Lola cars designed the composite structure of the roll box for the T92/10 sports car using the finite element analysis (FEA) technique which is cost-effective and helps determine the optimum structure at the drawing board stage itself. FEA can be used to design complex structures in composites, and has replaced the time consuming and expensive building and testing of prototypes. It helps solve problems of stress and displacement on the drawing board stage itself, prior to testing prototype, by a numerical method.

Finite potential
Article Abstract:
Computer simulation tools employing finite element analysis are gaining popularity in the metal forming industry. These tools allow the modeling of a complete forging or cold forming process, providing data which are of great value to the design in a form compatible with existing practices in the industry. To provide accurate simulation of processes, the heat generated during the forming process are also considered.

FE modelling of magnetic devices
Article Abstract:
The introduction of automatic mesh generators and macro files that can be applied to set up models with only a little data from the operator has significantly eased finite element (FE) modelling, previously regarded as complex and time consuming. FE software is the most potent and powerful analyzing and optimization technique for forecasting the performance of magnetic devices.
