Oscillating catalysts: a new twist for plastics
Article Abstract:
Geoffrey Coates and Robert Waymouth have developed a process for synthesizing elastic polypropylene based on catalysis by metallocenes. The catalyst oscillates between stereochemical forms, producing polymer chains with alternating isotactic and atactic stereocenters.

On low-barrier hydrogen bonds and enzyme catalysis
Article Abstract:
The contention that low-barrier hydrogen bonds support enzyme catalysis by means of 'resonance stabilization' is disputed. It is suggested that an opposite, destabilization process occurs. Two replies are included.

Catalytic antibodies and disfavored reactions
Article Abstract:
Catalytic antibodies can be used to accommodate unnatural reactions. The antibody's full binding force is applicable for catalysis, in principle, if the turnover rate is proper and the hapten selection is ideal.
