Photocatalytic Degradation of 1,10-Dichlorodecane in Aqueous Suspensions of TiO2: A Reaction of Adsorbed Chlorinated Alkane with Surface Hydroxyl Radicals
Article Abstract:
This study resolves the debate concerning photoreactions on the surface of TiO2 or in bulk solution in favor of the Langmuir-Hinshelwood kinetic model of surface reaction. 1,10-Dichlorodecane was exposed to UV with and without TiO2. OH+ radicals were shown to be the major oxidant.

Increasing levels of flame retardants found in North American environment
Article Abstract:
The results of several research studies indicate that the levels of polybrominated diphenyl ether (PBDE) fire retardants are higher than expected in the U.S. and Canadian environments and are rising in Europe. The studies, presented at Dioxin 2000, also provide more information about human exposures. Based on data from a Swedish study, the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention have begun developing methods for monitoring human blood levels. Demand for brominated fire retardants in the Americas, Europe, and Asia is tabulated for 1999.

Competitive photocatalytic oxidation of Cu(II)-EDTA and Cd(II)-EDTA with illuminated TiO(sub 2)
Article Abstract:
Pollutant metal ions of copper and cadmium are treated with ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid (EDTA) at varying pH levels in a photocatalytic oxidation (PCO) system with illuminated TiO(sub2). Graphs show the degradation rates of the solutions at pH levels 4-8.
