Researchers have discovered human artifacts at the Diring Yuriakh site at the Lena River dating back about 300,000 years. Researchers used thermoluminescence to date the artifacts, but no consensus has been reached because of a lack of artifacts that can be dated by other methods.

Canadian scientists are worried about the effects of new government guidelines proposed for government-funded research on human subjects. The guidelines would five Research Ethics Boards the authority to review the scientific validity of human experiments as well as their ethics.
