Kryle Machine Tools International is based in Stoke-on-Trent in the heart of the UK ceramics industry. The company is used to working in the high tech aerospace and automotive industries, and providing machine tools for the ceramics industry is a slight departure. The Hothouse centre for ceramic design was developed as part of the urban regeneration of the local area with the aim of offering local industry the latest computer technology. Kryle produced a machine with a main spindle for roughing and initial machining, together with a high speed spindle for finishing, following Hothouse's requirements.
