Replacing the East Bay bridge
Article Abstract:
This article describes renovation of the San Francisco-Oakland Bay Bridge damaged by the Loma Prieta earthquake. Four new structures consisting of a low-rise posttensioned concrete box grider span, the skyway, a suspension signature span, and a doubly posttensioned concrete box grider, all seismologically sound are incorporated in the design.

Re-creating the rainbow bridge
Article Abstract:
The article describes the design and construction of a bridge using ideas from 12th-century China's construction methods. Chinese and American engineers team ventured to build a rainbow bridge with large stones and beams as two interlocking arches woven around cross beams for support.
