Restoring Costa Rica's rainforest
Article Abstract:
The project aims to develop strategies for restoring tropical forests by conducting a large-scale reforestation experiments in the region of Costa Rica. Dr. Rakan Zahawi and his project team will work with a local cooperative of coffee farmers, hit hard by dwindling soil productivity and the crash of the global coffee market, who are interested in a long-term reforestation plan to find more sustainable uses for their land.

Restoring Vietnam's forest
Article Abstract:
Dr. Nguyen Van Sinh is working on a pilot project to gather baseline data on forest ecology to restore native tree species of VietnamEs forests. Nguyen and his project team aims to document the light, slope, soil, and altitude each species prefers at various stages of its life cycle.

Rare plants of Kenya
Article Abstract:
The project was undertaken to protect the undiscovered flora of Taita Hills' steep foothill forests from getting endangered by local farmers and charcoal producers. The project records the botanical diversity of one of Kenya's most-threatened ecosystems to ensure its conservation.
