Room-temperature ionic liquids: slow dynamics, viscosity, and the red edge effect
Article Abstract:
The dynamics, spectroscopy and fluid dynamics of selected imidazolium-based ionic liquids (ILs) are examined. Results suggest that the viscosity and highly structured character of ILs are closely linked with the red edge effect, the non-Newtonian behavior and the existence of locally heterogeneous environments on a time scale relevant to chemical and photo-chemical reactivity.

Ionic liquids: the link to high-temperature molten salts?
Article Abstract:
A study to examine the electrodeposition of aluminum, tantalum, and silicon in ionic liquids is conducted. Findings reveal that it is possible to obtain uniform, adherent layers of Ta in the ionic liquid 1-butyl-1-methylpyrrolidinium bis(trifluoromethylsulfony) amide ([BMP}[Tf.sub.2]N) containing Ta[F.sub.5] at 200 degree Celsius.

Amino acid ionic liquids
Article Abstract:
A study to examine the preparation and properties of ionic liquids composed of amino acids (AAILs) is conducted. Findings reveal phase separation of AAILs at room temperature and an increase in the solubility of water in AAILs upon cooling.
