Ruin your breath, save your health: the secret life of garlic and onions
Article Abstract:
Researchers have discovered how garlic and onions fight such diseases as cancer, heart disease and infections. Educational and research institutions discovered that garlic's allicin content attacks disease-causing microbes and that both onions and garlic stem nitrosamine formation. The sulfur compound responsible for the strong odor of garlic and onion was also found to prevent platelet aggregation and reduce heart attacks.
