Science Hopes to Rebound In Post-Cold War Era
Article Abstract:
Mongolia was an important research center during the Cold War, mostly because of its connection with Soviet and East German scientists and financial support. In 1991, however, Russia withdrew its troops and with them support for science. In 1999, Mongolia is looking to the developed world for financial support for research and science.

The Kyoto negotiations on climate change: a science perspective

The 1997 Kyoto Conference on Climate Change focused on political and technical rather than science issues. The Kyoto Protocol will have little effect on the increase of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere.
