Practicing the poor man's brand of particle physics
Article Abstract:
A research team has developed a method that can detect the extremely small electric dipoles created when atoms are exposed to electric fields. The technique can be used instead of expensive particle accelerators to study the fundamental nature of matter.

A cloud with a strange dark lining
Article Abstract:
Astronomers believe observations from an x-ray satellite suggest that a cloud of hot gas surrounding two galaxies may be composed of exotic nonbaryonic particles. The cloud has a larger mass than can be explained by ordinary particles.
