Sweating the small stuff: extracting freshwater from the salty oceans is an ancient technique that is gaining momentum in a high-tech way
Article Abstract:
The cost of water desalination has dropped, while demand for water supply has been driven up by industrial and population growth, causing the United States to invest more seriously in saline conversion plants. Such facilities are common in nations where natural supplies of fresh water are scarce. Analysis of the current state of desalination research is detailed.

Reactive reasoning
Article Abstract:
Inflammation, a key mediator in atheroslerosis, damages the lining of the artery walls and contributes to the formation and rupture of fatty plaques. An attempt is made to determine the relation between an inflammation compound called C-reactive protein (CRP) and heart disease and it is found that reductions in CRP had a beneficial effect independent of lowering LDL, suggesting that statins lessen both cholesterol and CRP.

A culture of death
Article Abstract:
Russel Ogden, a criminology graduate student examines the means and methods of assisted suicide which means helping a person take his own life and euthanasia which means mercifully ending someone's life as painlessly as possible in AIDS patients. Suffocation devices such as 'debreather', 'exit bag', 'Nembutal', a liquid barbiturate are some of the methods recommended.
