A study published by the Journal of the American Dietetic Assn indicates that taste is a primary factor in making food choices. The study included both people classified as 'physical fantastics' and those who smoked and never exercised. The variable examined included nutrition, cost and weight control concerns.

The branding of Lake Champlain as one of the Great Lakes faced opposition. The lake, which is suffering from zebra mussel infestation, is said to be so small as to be classified as great. The lake would have received federal funding entitled to Great Lakes if ever it is classified as one.
